White Seabass Restoration Project Partners

Hubbs Sea World
Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute (HSWRI) is dedicated to providing effective solutions to conflicts that arise between human activity and the natural world. Scientists at HSWRI breed and rear the White Seabass that are delivered to our grow-out pens and provide scientific input for the program.
cdfg
The CA Department of Fish and Game oversees the white seabass project and administers funding for the HSWRI hatchery and other Ocean Resources Enhancement Hatchery Program (OREHP) sponsored research. OREHP funds are acquired through the sales of marine enhancement stamps on all commercial and recreational saltwater fishing licenses purchased between Pt. Arguello and San Diego.

Port
The Port of San Diego is a major financial supporter for the San Diego Bay pen! They generously donate pier space and have provided over $70,000 in financial assistance grants.

Marina Village
Marina Village Marina donates the use of a boat slip for our Mission Bay netpen and supports SDOF with other in-kind donations.

United Angler
The United Anglers of Southern California organizes, permits, and coordinates operations essential to the expansion of the white seabass program.

The San Diego County Fish and Wildlife Commission provided financial assistance in 2003 to help purchase the San Diego Bay grow-out pens.

Seafood Watch
Seafood Watch is a program of Monterey Bay Aquarium designed to raise consumer awareness about the importance of buying seafood from sustainable sources. We recommend which seafood to buy or avoid - helping consumers to become advocates for environmentally friendly seafood. SDOF distributes 5,000 Seafood Watch cards each year!

Visit SDOF's Sustainable Seafood Choices page to learn how you can make choices that support healthy oceans when eating a seafood meal!
