Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF) is the "overseeing organization" of the research project and provides training materials, volunteer survey kits and database processing. SDOF is the official REEF field station in San Diego and is responsible for training divers and collecting information.

Lois Ann Dive Charters donates their boat for SDOF Reefer events.The Lois Ann can accommodate 20 divers/passengers (49' long) and has been serving divers in San Diego since 1990.

The Birch Aquarium at Scripps provides use of their classrooms for training classes and gives free entrance to the aquarium after each training session for new Reefers to practice their fish ID skills.

Ocean Enterprises also provides the use of their classrooms for training classes and occassionally provides donations and gear for REEF events.
