HMCS Yukon greets the morning sun for the last time at the yard where she was created in 1963 in North Vancouver. The ARSBC crew close hatches and check off the watertight integrity check list, stow gear and emergency equipment for the voyage.

tugs are summonsed and the ramp removed for getting the ship underway - ARSBC crew exit the ship.

the Yukon casts off and is pushed away from her moorings with the assistance of three tugs - a 25 knot wind from the west was pushing her into the pier.

for the last time in her career of over 30 years the former HMCS Yukon crosses under the Lion's Gate Bridge past Stanley Park as she enters the Straits of Georgia

the former HMCS Yukon and her tug the DELTA LINDA pass the ships moored in Vancouver's English Bay and head toward the mountains of Vancouver Island before turning south to the Haro Strait and Washington Strait - the Yukon is expected to near Victoria BC at approximately 7pm before turning south for San Diego.
