The White Seabass Restoration Program was established to re-introduce the white
seabass into San Diego Coastal waters. The white seabass population along the southern California coast is curently
at dangerously low levels due to overfishing and habitat destruction. To change this course, a partnership was
formed with Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute and the Department of Fish and Game to build facilities that would be able
to breed, raise and re-introduce the white seabass back into the wild. The San Diego Oceans Foundation maintains
and operates two of the grow-out facilities.
