The Ocean in Motion (OIM) is a traveling marine science program that has been developed in accordance with the California Science Content Standards and is available to all schools in San Diego County. The Ocean in Motion focuses on different biological and environmental aspects of the ocean and provides students with an extensive knowledge of the marine species that live in San Diego waters and in all the different oceans.

The OIM program is available to grades K-12.

Elementary schools receive three, 60-minute programs.

Junior and Senior High schools receive one, 60-minute program
presented by Marty Snyderman

Teachers have the opportunity to choose from 5 different Ocean Programs. The programs begin with an interactive presentation followed by hands on learning and concluding with an overview.

Programs emphasize reading skills, mathematics, creativity, reasoning and stimulate further learning and exploring.

The OIM is designed to assist teachers in their endeavor to educate about the importance of science. Marine science will be brought to San Diego schools and will stimulate and build scientific interest and curiosity about the waters that surround us.
