Sustainable Seafood Week unites restaurants committed to bringing attention to the sustainable seafood movement. Each restaurant agrees to feature a sustainable seafood plate or prix fixe menu and donate a portion of their profits to support the San Diego Oceans Foundation’s research and marine science education programs. This weeklong event entices guests to try new restaurants and opens their eyes to a whole new world of delicious entrees. Sustainable Seafood Week helps to educate the public about the importance of supporting businesses that have developed more sustainable solutions to environmental concerns, proving that a simple choice can have a lasting and beneficial impact on the environment.No passes, tickets or coupons are required. Instead, diners may simply visit their favorite participating restaurants throughout the week to enjoy the special prix fixe lunch or dinner menus. It is strongly recommended that diners make reservations in advance. To make a reservation, diners should contact restaurants directly. What is Sustainable Seafood?“Seafood that is harvested and/or produced in a manner that minimizes bycatch and impacts on surrounding ecosystems, while maintaining or creating economic viability for those who depend on the industry.” (Seafood for the Future) Approved lists include: FishChoice, Seafood for the Future, Seafood Watch, MSC Certified or the SDOF local underutilized species list.
